Run 2 End Hunger Post Race Report!

Dear: Friends and family (RUN 2 END HUNGER) POST RACE REPORT!

After a VERY long and VERY exhausting week, we at Residents 4 Arkansas are FINALLY mission accomplished. The 210 mile Run 2 End Hunger across Northeastern Arkansas is OVER, and I for one am GLAD about that. Since its completion many people have asked me two primary questions...What was IT like…and would YOU do it again? The answer to the first question of course is this. The run itself was perhaps one of the MOST physically exhausting things which I have ever done, and I say that because of the long daily mileage and the inability for my muscles to quickly rebuild themselves. A daily average of over 3500 calories was lost during the race itself, and I operated on about four hours of painful sleep per night. The horrible weather of course played a major irritating factor, and the fact that I literally had to swim across several flooded roadways didn’t help matters any either. To the next question I would have to say…let me think LONG and hard about that one. Currently, we’re looking at ways to make our next unique community based event even MORE exciting and better than the Run 2 End Hunger. It has been suggested by some people that we should perhaps run from West Memphis Arkansas to Dayton Ohio, and of course take pledges of canned food on whether I complete the run within 14 days. Currently at this point we’re in the process of contacting all of our pledge members, to set up a convenient time for us to collect the canned food from them in regard to this race. For our out of state friends, please of course send your Kroger or Wal-Mart gift cards to Residents 4 Arkansas Inc. PO Box 5224 West Memphis, Arkansas 72301. We will of course utilize the gift cards to purchase canned goods and we will have 5 business days to send you back a copy of the receipt detailing what was purchased. This option is of course available for our out of state friends only. I would also like to add that the recent journey across Crittenden, St. Francis, and Lee County has been a truly exciting one and something that I will NEVER forget. I was fortunate to have met MANY great residents along the way and I even experienced firsthand some of that good ole southern hospitality that we all thought was long since dead. Many people were indeed curious as to why I was running 210 miles in 7 days, but when I said that it was to raise food for local NEA pantries they just clapped as I ran and or oftentimes hobbled past. It was without a doubt one of the best things which I’ve personally done and I thank everyone for their support and honest prayers. We would like to now take this time to say a SPECIAL thanks to the following individuals. I’d also like to say that the Evening Times of Crittenden County did a GREAT job of helping circulate word of this Run 2 End Hunger around. In a few weeks, once all of the food is collected we'll of course even have more pictures to show.

Call us at 870 514 8515 or 901 378 1086 should you have any questions about your pledge.
